NecroLites is a small business operated and owned by one individual, that being myself. Thus every aspect of candle creation is done by me, from the initial candle concept to its physical creation, and every candle here is hand made. My goal is to provide eco-safe natural wax candles for all of those individuals who walk magical, esoteric, or Earth based paths. Basically if you have an alternative lifestyle/spirituality we have a candle for you whether you define yourself as "light" or "dark".

Our candles are meant to be versatile. They can be used for the magical or mundane. Each scent is chosen with care to not only smell great but evoke a response that relates to its magical goal. You can either use them for décor pieces around the house to enjoy the unique fragrances, or use them in full magical ritual on your altar top. If this is the case you will need to charge your candle before use. Remember: Physical objects are always just an aid, the true magic comes from within! If you don't wish to use them in full ritual a simple way to use them is burn them while thinking about your goal and remind yourself of this goal every time you see/smell them burning.

  • Our candles are made of either beeswax and soy, both of which are completely natural having been produced by honeybees or derived from soy beans rather than being manufactured synthetically. As well as being a renewable eco-friendly resource, we firmly belive that beeswax candles make superior ritual candles because they are natural, traditional, and non-carcinogenic.

  • Soy Wax produces much less soot than paraffin candles. Thus soot will not accumulate in your house or marr the aesthetic of your candle, living room, or ritual.

  • Beeswax is an ancient source of wax that has been used for thousands of years to make candles. Archeologist have actually found beeswax in Egyptian tombs that is still usable! Beeswax lasts longer when burned than any other type of wax (with soy a close second). The flame of both of these waxes actually burn at a lower temperature than paraffin candles, producing a longer burn time. Thus, you are getting the best buy for your money because they last a ridiculously long time! In addition you are getting a completely handmade candle created for your purpose exclusively. These are top-quality candles (To put this in perspective, it takes 8 1/2 pounds of honey to make one pound of beeswax. Honeybees collect nectar from approximately two million flowers to make one pound of honey. Thus, nectar must be collected from 17 million flowers to make one pound of beeswax).

  • Studies have shown that beeswax candles more emit negative ions as they burn than any other type of wax. This naturally cleans the air. Dust and allergens are held aloft by positively charged ions, and the negative ions help to clear the air of this debris. A rain storm is another event which produces negative ions, and the clean air you experience afterwards is attributed to this effect. Thus they help to promote a positive and clean environment during your magical working right from the start.

  • Most importantly, each candle is specifically handmade for you when you order it. Thus each candle you purchase is connected to you with intent right from the beginning, rather than sitting on a shelf for who knows how long and interacting with potentially hundereds of individuals.

    Candle Burning Tips

There is a proper way to burn a candle. Follow these tips for safety and to increase the lifetime of your candle.
  • Trim the wick to 1/4 inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping or flaring.
  • Always a proper candle holder. It should provide a stable base and catch drips. Votives should always be burned in a votive holder. Soy votives are meant to liquefy.
  • Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, used matches and debris at all times.
  • Avoid drafts, vents or air currents. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning, sooting, and excessive dripping.
  • Reshape the wax as it burns to "hug" the melt pool.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children, pets & combustible materials.
  • Burn only on a stable heat-resistant surface for less than four hours at a time.
  • Try to burn candles long enough each time so that the entire top layer melts to the sides before being extinguished. This allows a "melt pool" to develop and ensures even burning without tunneling. Tunneling will reduce total burn time of the candle.
  • Ideally, burn candles 1 hour for each inch of it's diameter. This allows the flame time to melt the wax to the outer edge and avoids tunneling. Example: a 3" wide candle should be burned for 3 hours at a time. Then you must extinguish the wick and allow at least an hour to pass before lighting it again, allowing the wax to re-solidify. This is how burn times are calculated. If you "powerburn" a candle straight through it will consume its wax fuel at a much quicker rate, resulting in a much shorter burn time than the candle would have otherwise.
  • Don't touch or move a burning candle.
  • Don't move a votive or container candle when the wax is liquefied.
  • Don't burn a candle all the way down. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 1/2 inch of wax remains.
  • Always keep the candle within your sight. If you leave the room, be sure to first blow out all candles.
